The 3 P's of Ergonomic Matting Installation

Ergonomic matting is becoming more and more important when it comes to work place safety, it will soon be a standard set by Worksafe, as these mats really do make a difference. Ergonomic mats are actually the most comfortable flooring you will ever stand on. Workplace mats have proven to improve employee morale and productivity. These mats make it 100% easier to stand for long periods of time. Ergonomic matting comes in a variety of types, sizes, and styles. There are three different methods of installing ergonomic matting: Permanent, Passive, and Positive. 1. Permanent Installation: This is where an adhesive is used to permanently connect pieces of flooring together and/or to the floor, leaving them difficult or impossible to later move. 2. Passive Installation: Mats are not glued together; they are just pushed against one another, nor are they tacked to the floor. This is a good option for temporary usage, or if you have one worker but multiple stations, then it makes it easier to move the mats around. 3. Positive Installation: This is when a pre-engineered connecting system is already integrated into the matting, this creates a layout that stays put in everyday use, but can also easily be reconfigured. Once installed, ergonomic flooring offers many benefits, the most important of which is safety. Studies have proven time and time again that cement or concrete can cause muscle and joint problems in legs and backs. You are also covered if a fall does happen to occur; ergonomic matting is quite soft so it is less likely that the employee will be injured. A third factor is that these mats are esthetically pleasing, these mats are an attractive alternative to cement, and can really spruce up your warehouse.
