Last week startedsilouette business man slipping a feature on the returns of safety in the workplace. To continue this message of the importance of safety in the workplace we produced this infographic illustrating the costs of slip / fall injuries to companies and the amount of people impacted by these slip / fall injuries each year. Its can be a difficult task to evaluate the safety of a workplace, if you are taking the right steps in protecting your employees with proper safety equipment and training then it could be your business doesn't have an issue of regular employee injuries. If overlooked a workplace's safety can quickly be compromised, it could be one area of flooring which becomes particularly slippery on a wet, rainy day. It is the responsibility of the company to regularly assess their workplace and make sure it is safe for the customers who visit as well as the employees who work there on a daily basis. Every workplace should have a safety officer responsible for evaluating any potential risks in the workplace and when accidents do happen checking over the situation and seeing if there is any way to keep accidents like this from repeating. As displayed in the infographic below, 55% of the injuries in the workplace are determined to be caused by the walking surface. This is a statistic that companies can have a direct influence over in their workplace. By properly utilizing the correct mats in the correct areas of your place of work the amount of slip / fall injuries will be greatly reduced.
